MAYAN CONFEDERATION PUBLIC EVENTS
CHUARRANCHO TOWN SAID NO SISIMITE HYDROELECTRIC PLANT
On
Sunday September 27, 2009, Chuarrancho town neighborhood gated at the
Catholic Church to receive information and discuss steps to follow the
popular decision to stop any hydroelectric power plant construction in
their town. The GENASA Corporation promotes the hydroelectric power project
called Sisimite. On august two, the Cuarrancho village decided by majority
vote to rejects the construction.
The Alvaro Colom, Guatemalan President trying to ignore the popular decision done by vote of Chuarrancho residents. An Energy vice Minister said that the Sisimite Hydroelectric is a State business, and city hall never have to ask people opinion.
REFERENDUM ON HYDROELECTRIC POWER PLANT CONSTRUCTION
On august 2 2009, was made the Popular Consulting of Good
Faith in San Pedro Chuarrancho town of Guatemala. The consulting process
asked the community to make their mind regarding the construction of a
Hydroelectric Power plant in their river. The majority voted and the winner
was NO.
The result was
NO, 2748 votes
YES, 571 votes
The Hydroelectric power plant intention was to build up and never ask the town people about their goals. Inhabitants of Chuarrancho use the river for agricultural and drink water purposes.
MAYAN WOMEN DAY
Mayan women day celebrated at San Juan Sacatepequez. The participants gathered in a ceremonial site were women, men, and children danced, and recognized the women values in the Mayan society. Delegation from El Salvador, Jalapa, Quiche, Kaqchikeles, Zutuiles as well members of COCODES of San Juan Sacatepéquez participated. Delegations spoke, gives their offering, and concluded with dancing with marimba around the sacred fire.
Great Civilizations Public Event happened on October
18, 2009
Professor and Mayan Ajq’ijab united their
voice to explain previous civilizations to current one. First mentioned
the plasmatic beings look like transparent civilization existed long
ago with capacity to reproduce them. Then, the Liguria civilizations
were sex start to separate as the bible mention with Adam and Eve, by
means of two being to reproduce. The Atlantis civilization those reproduced
by sex and disappeared in the ocean. The current Aria races have to transform
itself to conquest their body. The new civilization to come after us,
will conquest their mind. Each civilization has a function in the planet.
Some dominate iron, fire, air, and water. The current civilization need
to develop new way of life before to transform. Each generation never
disappear; always persist some to continue to next.
Celebrated the Waxaqib Kiej or Mayan New Year (Sacred Calendar) Sunday October 18, 2009
The Sacred Mayan calendar of 260
days celebrated with a ceremonial fire, marimba, and delegation from different
regions. The Achi Ijats, Apolinario Chile Pixtun, as main speaker related importance
of calendars as way of life, elders suffering to keep it and death
treat they constantly receive for practicing this tradition. He mentioned
many attempt against him to poison his food and beverage because speak in
favor to majority of Mayan.
FIRST SACRED CIRCLE OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLE IN ART, MUSIC, AND DANZE 2009
Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala was the stage of the First Sacred Circle of Alliance of Indigenous Peoples in Art, Music, and Dance. During 8 days, from November 22 to 29, 2009, artist from the US, Canada, Mexico, Norway, Denmark and El Salvador, participated with songs, music and dance. The Youth Council of the Great Mayan Elders Confederation of Guatemala made the international event.
The participants danced around the sacred fire, shared their skills and experiences, as well danced together in solidarity. Guatemala showed arts crafts, music and the Mayan ball game with members of Quiche youth group. On Saturday November 29, all artist and musicians showed their talents on the garden of Tiosh Abaj site.

The Oxlajuj Baktun, will be the next conference will happening in January 2010. What mean the Baktuns? What will happen with the Mayan Calendar? What will happen in 2012?
